The Word of God teaches us, when we read it with the right attitude.
Psalm 119:11-12 “Thy word have I hidden in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord; teach me thy statutes.”
Galatians 6:6 “Let him that is taught in the word share with him that teacheth in all good things”
How often have I heard the unbelievers say the Bible was written by man, for the purpose of controlling the people (presumably they think that their “enlightened” view enables them to escape such “control” but, in reality, they are just as much a “puppet” as anybody else).
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:16
It is true that men wrote the Bible because it was not written by aliens and “dropped” on our planet……
“for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:21
and it is also true that careful study of the Bible will lead to a shift in values, priorities and this book can control a persons behaviour.
Ephesians 5:26 “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word”
Hebrews 4:12 “for the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”
The heathen desire to escape the control of the Bible can be summed up in one word, rebellion…. and it is the sin of satan himself.
“Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven” Psalm 119:89
“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” Isaiah 40:8
The illusion is… humans think they can be free of all restraints…. there is no such thing…. if we are ignoring the Bible then we are serving satan’s purposes and he will manipulate us easily (and without us even realizing it).
Jesus made it perfectly clear…. there is no middle road between good and evil… we cannot be “neutral”…. you conciously pick a side and if you will not choose a side then (because of your inherrent sin nature) you will, by default, go the evil road…. only two roads… the broad path that leads to destruction and the narrow path that leads to life everlasting (filled with joy in the presence of GOD)…. every moment of every day you are on the road… and although you can choose to change roads, the older you get (and the farther you have gone down the road) the harder it becomes to change to the other road.
Both Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:18 confirm that:
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
As children grow… they will encounter CHOICES…. they will have numerous chances to choose good or to choose evil….. satan is actively going after children…. their built-in sinful nature makes it easy for him to attract them…. who will teach them otherwise ????
Only Christian adults… are the only ones standing in the gap for the little ones… and it is so important to reach them before they are snared and roped into a life of sin.
There is a popular notion that since God is love… things cant be that bad and most people will be saved if they are “good”….. after all, why would God harm thousands of “good” people. ?
Hear the words of Jesus, “Enter in at the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to DESTRUCTION, and MANY there be who go in that way; Because narrow is the gate and hard is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it” Matthew 7:13-14
Because we are human, the destruction of large masses of humanity troubles us…. but God is willing to do away with large masses of human kind for the sake of His ELECT, the few who honour and worship Him and tremble at His Word….. the few who have freely chosen to make Him supreme in their lives while overcoming the world, the flesh and the devil.
“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 1 Peter 4:18
Today is a fresh opportunity to seek His will and guidance for your life.
“but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today”, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13
