What is your perspective today ? Do you have a proper vision of God ? a proper perspective on the world around you ?

Today we laugh at the primitive people who worship idols of wood and stone …. we are sophisticated, educated… intellectually advanced….. but still IDOLATERS !

Pleasure, entertainment, money, power, sex…. these are the things that are important to us…. more important to us than God in many decisions that we make regarding how we spend our time.

God must come FIRST in our lives…. how can you call yourself a Christian and not put God first ? …. Jesus, by His example, always put God first throughout His earthly life…. but today’s Christian has a “what can God do for me today” approach and they expect to use God as a convenient way to get what they want.

Isaiah 51:11 “Therefore, the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.”

This is not a bunch of selfish people… wrapped up in their own concerns…. and trying to live the “American dream”…. this verse is about people completely in love with God.

Hear the Word of the LORD, “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker ! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou ?” (Isaiah 45:9)

“Look unto me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:22)

If you say you are a Christian then put God on the throne in your life…. and spend your most precious TIME in fellowship with Him and ….. your perspective will certainly change because you will view this world, and everything in it, in a completely different way.

Only then will this verse become true for YOU, “they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world” (John 17:14)

Your perspective changes towards the world, people and the affairs of your own life as you draw closer to Christ in fellowship.

Let me ask you this, do you really know Him ?  have you really experienced the presence of Christ in your life ? If not, it’s probably because this world and all the affairs of this life are really more important to you.

Confidence – Part 7

This the last in my series on Confidence, please note if you are an email subscriber and discovered “weird” Bible reference in the previous part(s)…. I made mistake with typing the verse…. all errors corrected in the online version of the post(s).

Confidence for Everyone

I have shown that SELF-confidence is a bad thing, but yet, everybody needs SOME kind of “confidence” in order to function effectively in life !

Jesus said, “he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:25)…. BUT….He also said, “… you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39)…  this IMPLIES that you must have SOME sort of love for yourself… SOME self-worth. Paul also said, “…no one ever hated his own flesh…” (Ephesians 5:29)…. this also assumes some kind of self-worth… and therefore if  a person  “hates themselves” it is both an ABNORMAL and UNDESIRABLE  condition that should be fixed as soon as possible.

What causes this abnormal self-loathing ?

Some possible causes:

  1. Physical features
  2. Lack of education
  3. Tragic circumstances
  4. Physical or emotional abuse
  5. Sin

What are the consequences of such abnormal self-loathing ?

  1. Substance abuse
  2. Sexual  promiscuity and immorality
  3. A critical spirit
  4. Materialism

How can these negative behaviours be fixed, cured and improved ?

  1. Realize who we are…. no better or worse than any other humans.
  2. Realize what God has done for us in Jesus Christ
  3. Realize the blessed hope we have for the future because of Jesus Christ

Our position when thinking about ourselves should be  “… not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith” (Romans 12:3)…   in Paul’s day, many were “puffed up with their own importance” and the BIBLE is about BALANCE and NOT extreme positions…… therefore I conclude that EITHER extreme is sinful and dangerous and we are to find the proper evaluation of ourselves by revelation of God in His Word and (through His Holy Spirit) in our daily living.

Confidence – Part 6

Getting what you want out of life…… Getting what you want through visualization and mind control, spells, rituals and the “occult” knowledge of the “spirit realm”.

The subtle lie of Satan, devil, demons that says…. “You can have whatever you wish….. when you have both confidence and self-discipline and attain power through knowledge”.

A DIRECT CONTRADICTION to the life of Jesus Christ…. who both taught (and practised Himself) TOTAL SUBMISSION to the will of God and He was rewarded with the Highest Authority in the Universe….. thereby proving to the whole host of heaven that the way to TRUE authority and power is through humility and service…. NOT pride and self-exaltation.

Jesus HAD all power and authority but many times refused to use it for His own benefit … read Matthew 26:53, John 10:18 and John 19:11

Beware of the Roman Catholic Church (where pagan “occult ritual” is practised in the name of God and demonic manifestation occurs due to their heathen idolatry and statues, beads and symbolism).

Beware of successful televangelists and charismatic pentecostals who “declare” prosperity and “claim” worldly success by “invoking” the Power of God through the use of Scripture in “repetition” and “visualization” (the use of the mind and imagination under the guise of “faith” in bringing the thoughts and desires of THEIR hearts into “reality”)

The example of Jesus Christ and indeed the entire New Testament church stand in direct contrast to their “popular preaching”…… and so, they resort to various Old Testament passages made under the Jewish Covenant and during the dispensation (age) of Law….. and then combine the texts with occultic methods to GET WHAT THEY WANT from  “god”.

They need to heed the warnings in the book of JUDE…..  and they need to be exposed by those who know the TRUTH.

Read Matthew 7:14 … these are the words of Christ….. the reality is SALVATION is NOT a “mass-market” commodity……. we are commanded to preach the GOSPEL to “every living creature”…… but the TRUE gospel is what we are commanded to preach….. FORSAKING the world and seeking after RIGHTEOUSNESS…. and it is NEVER going to be “popular” and FEW there will be that “embrace” it.

Confidence – Part 5

Discipline leads to success in anything and everything

Job 5:17 “happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty”

Revelation 3:19 “as many as I love I rebuke and chasten”

Hebrews 12:10 “For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our PROFIT, that we may be partakers of His holiness”

Proverbs 25:28 “whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down,  without walls.”

People are physically and mentally LAZY…. They are looking for results without effort… therefore the world is filled with people making money from the idea  that you can achieve  without effort.

For example, eat your way to a slim figure or learn to play the piano without practice… ANYTHING that’s hard to do WILL take time and EFFORT, but there is always somebody (a con artist ?) selling you a “quick” alternative because people are suckers for this sort of thing, they WANT it to be true and they confuse their wishes with reality.

It takes MOTIVATION and DISCIPLINE to ACHIEVE anything worthwhile and do not let anybody tell you otherwise. Make up your mind early that you will make SACRIFICES to achieve your goals.

When your goal is the do God’s will and work… whatever sacrifices you make  have eternal rewards… this is why Jesus sacrificed His life for us and now reigns forevermore blessed.

You can be confident of success when you have disciplined yourself appropriately.
