The essence of a miracle is not how awesome it is COMPARED to “anything else”…. but rather that it happens when you need it most or as a direct answer to prayer.

FAITH….  he who comes to God must BELIEVE that HE IS and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6)

1. How GREAT is your God ?? …. Do you believe that He can do ANYTHING ?  (Genesis 18:14, Jeremiah 32:27)   …. if not, you will have doubts whether He can help you.

2. How important do you think you are to Him ?? ….. even if you believe that He CAN help you….. you may still NOT believe that He WILL help you…. particularly if you feel guilty and unworthy. (James 1:6 – 8)… First, cleanse yourself from all known SIN according to His Word… Second, rebuke FALSE ACCUSATIONS from satan.

You need both of these pre-conditions…… and there is plenty of failure around to discourage you…. lots of people who begged for various miracles got NOTHING…. so where does that leave you ??

Many people have wondered about the Bible passage Matthew 13:12 and again Matthew 25:29 …… and repeated in Mark 4:25 and Luke 8:18 …..  FOUR times so it must be quite important.

Does this position seem fair to you ? …. why should somebody get all in abundance and the other fellow get NOTHING…. surely, according to our thinking, the one with little should get some more…  that everybody might have EQUALLY…. since we are all equal in His sight ?

The fellow gets his little taken away because he does not use it in any constructive way, he is ungrateful and lazy…. the one who gets more (even though he has already) is appreciative and industrious with whatever he has been given.

In the natural world…. many of the poor will remain permanently poor no matter how much money you give them, because they quickly use it up UNWISELY and then want more (they have a MENDICANCY MENTALITY…. they are always wanting to be given what others have… they are always feeling disadvantaged and “unfaired”….  they are always envious of anyone with more than themselves, yet they do absolutely  nothing productive with what they actually have at their disposal (so it eventually gets used up and disappears). Meanwhile the successful are getting more and more because they put to WISE USE whatever they have at their disposal… and they really APPRECIATE the VALUE of even the “smallest amount” of anything and are always busy trying to find ways to put it to better use (they never waste time complaining or envying those who have more… because they are too busy “making the best” of what they have).

all people are NOT created with “equal” abilities… neither physically, mentally or spiritually….. this does NOT mean that anyone is “better” or “worse”…. because ALL have the responsibility of doing the best with whatever they have been given.

How does all this relate to miracles ? everybody may have the POTENTIAL  for a miracle… but those who regularly experience miracles, see more and more of them, because their faith and love for God grows… while those who see less and less miracles (or maybe none at all) eventually become so unbelieving that they may actually doubt the existence of the God who they once professed to believe in.

We NEED to remain in a state of THANKFULLNESS…. always giving thanks for what we have been given (whether little or much)

We NEED to seek WISDOM and GUIDANCE in our dedicated attempt to USE whatever we have been given (whether little of much).

We NEED to AVOID being COVETOUS of what anybody else has.

We NEED to AVOID BLAMING GOD  (or anyone else) for everything that “we do not like” about our lives.

Prayer for Today:

Loving Heavenly Father, help us to be ALWAYS thankful to you… for you are GOOD… and your GOODNESS endures forever ! … Amen.

Fasting is a principle occurring in the Bible from Old to New Testament…. and always in conjuction with Prayer…. the purpose of the fasting is:

1. To show our “seriousness” before God by denying ourselves to seek fellowship with Him.

2. To use the time that we would spend eating, preparing and cleaning up after meals for prayer and meditation before God.

3. To move into the spiritual realm as the body declines in “energy”

Item 3 applies to extended fasting… like the forty day and forty nights  so often mentioned in Scripture

Doctors (who do not believe in GOD) will say that EVERYBODY “hallucinates” after extended fasting and therefore EVERYBODY (Christian or NOT) will have “strange visions and hear voices” and so there is nothing “spiritual” about that….. it is just the brain’s reaction to starvation.

They will also tell you that the longer the fast, the more potentially dangerous it is to your body.

UNLIKE a fast that “anybody” might do….. it would seem that the prophets of the Bible had amazing energy in their body EVEN after having been “deprived” for so long (Exodus 24:18) …. Moses still had enough strength to climb around on a mountain

Daniel 9:3 – 27 tells us plainly… that with prayer, fasting, sackcloth and ashes…. the angel Gabriel was sent to him to explain the prophecy.

Jesus (after His forty days and forty nights of fasting)  was in no way harmed physically. (Luke 4:1 – 14)

The bottom line is that spiritual fasting for the express purpose of communion with GOD must be undertaken through FAITH and no doctor can explain or assist with any visions or physical manifestations that may occur as a result of it…..  you will be operating outside the realm of “natural” medicine….. and have to depend on GOD and Him alone.

I am neither encouraging you or discouraging you from fasting….. far less, suggesting the length of time you might do so…. it is a very personal issue…… if you feel so inclined, please research it further.

Prayer for Today:

Loving Heavenly Father, the most important thing for us… your children… is to have a right attitude towards you….. to want YOU more than anything else in life…  and we trust you to guide our way each day… in Jesus name we ask these things. Amen

Prayer is talking to God (either by speaking or in your mind)…..  He may answer us by thought, voice, vision, dream, miracle….  or He may not answer us at all….. but whether He answers us or not He has “heard” our prayer….. so why would He not answer ?

1. Sin and insincerity…  sinners “mock” God and may say things to Him out of anger or unbelief… they have no reverence for His Holiness and so He just ignores such insolent behaviour.

2. Unbelief and Lack of Faith….  if you do not believe that He hears you and/or you do not believe He will do what you are asking Him for…. why should He answer you or pay any attention to your prayer ?

3. Patience and Testing – If He does not answer right away, it does not mean that He will not do what you have requested of Him… if you love Him and are genuinely sincere you must continue in faith believing that He has your good in His Heart…. there was nothing “wrong” with Mary and Martha’s dedication to Jesus….. but He did not respond to their request until Lazarus had been dead four days…. the final result was a “greater” miracle… Mary and Martha got what they wanted (Lazarus alive and well)… and many of the Jews believed on Him as a result of the whole episode (John 11:45)….. my brothers and sisters, who love the LORD, you MUST believe that God has your BEST ULTIMATE GOOD in His Heart even when He appears to ignore you…. your dedication to Him must be absolute EVEN when you dont understand His ways.

4. Free will – God has given every person free will, and if you are praying for somebody other than yourself, their free will may delay the answer… for example… it pleases God when you earnestly pray for the salvation of your unsaved relatives (and He will bless you for doing so)… however, their salvation also depends on their own free will and although God can make circumstances favorable to “turning to Him”….  ultimately it is THEIR choice…. God does not want robots, so the answer to your prayer remains uncertain even though it is good and right for you to pray such prayers.

Consider the following:

Psalms 102:17 “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.”

Proverbs 15:8 “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.”

Proverbs 15:29 “The LORD is far from the wicked, but he heareth the prayer of the righteous”

Matthew 6:7 tells us not to use “vain repetition” (like chants in prayer books) but to pray from your heart BELIEVING that He hears you…. Matthew 21:22  emphasizes the importance of FAITH (believing) in getting an answer… praying to God without believing that He will hear or respond…  is surely an INSULT to Him…. I mean, why bother ?

Mark 11:24 “Therefore, I say unto you, Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” ….. this is a favorite with the prosperity preachers, they use it to justify their immense mega-million fortunes….. but does all this wealth mean they are pleasing God ? will this wealth get them into Heaven or prevent them from ever going there ?…. through faith, He gives us what we want, but it is our RESPONSIBILITY to have “wants” that are in keeping with His Word….. a Spiritual life that has eternal value….. not a life filled with material abundance that glorifies our flesh…. “for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34)

While in His human body, Jesus needed prayer just like us, “And it came to pass in those days, that he went  out into a mountain to pray, and CONTINUED ALL NIGHT IN PRAYER TO GOD” (Luke 6:12)….. you can be sure, He was not asking God for land, houses and plenty money in the bank to spend upon Himself.

Phillipians 4:6 …. I have used this before in previous posts… look it up, this is a good one to learn by heart and always remember.

James 5:15 – 16  … shows us the power of prayer for health and forgiveness…. the doctor is NOT the first thing that should come into your head when you feel sick…. prayer is where you should start seeking an answer about your sickness…. God sometimes uses sickness to get our attention (people are usually a little more receptive to Him when they are sick) or to build our character… but sickness is not part of His plan for His servants (in the majority of cases)… and He is well able to heal you and keep you well when you are in His service.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing” ….. does not mean 24 hours a day….  but it means “do not give up on prayer”…. do not allow regular prayer (during the day)  to slip out of your life (or you will backslide for sure).

Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for hearing our prayers and guide us as to how we should pray… let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in thy sight… both now and forevermore. Amen
