laws

Is GOD a “victim” of His own Laws ???…. as some would have us to believe…

I have observed that many well-meaning writers, in an attempt to explain topics like “prayer” or “living a spiritual life” in their attempt to assist their readers in achieving their goal, provide a list of “do’s” and “dont’s” (backed by scripture verses)… and sometimes, to stress OUR responsibility, they may say things like, “GOD can do NOTHING unless we do “a” or “b””……. personally I believe that GOD can do ANYTHING He pleases and that He is NOT a “victim” of His own laws…. but this does NOT ABSOLVE us from “personal responsibility” EITHER…. sound confusing ?… but it makes perfect sense.

To say that GOD cannot do something LIMITS GOD and raises our own importance… and ooohh my ….. how we love to feel IMPORTANT, dont we ?….. but in reality, we are NOTHING…. ANYTHING we do for GOD is from Him and by Him…. “For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Phillipians 2:13)… we cannot claim the glory…. the Bible says, “No flesh should glory in His presence” (1 Corinthians 1:29)…. HUMILITY is seen again and again…. ever so important.

When He was on earth… He broke quite a few physical laws…. (John 6:19, John 6:21)…. and He said things like…. “the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath” (Luke 6:5) and “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25)…… but He also said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17 – 18)

In the Bible there are many (apparently) contradictory verses BECAUSE ….. BALANCE MUST be established…. you should not grab a verse and then go to “extreme” with it..

Lets look at some APPARENT contradictions , although I will make no attempt to explain them today.

Does God repent (change His mind) or not ?

Genesis 6:6 and Jonah 3:10 suggest that God repents…. while 1 Samuel 15:29 and Malachi 3:6 suggests that He does not repent

Jeremiah 3:12 says God will not be angry forever…. and a little later, Jeremiah 17:4 suggest that He will be angry forever.

2 Kings 2:11 tells us that Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven…. and John 3:13 tells us that no man hath ascended up to heaven.

Galatians 6:2 tells us to bear one anothers burdens… and Galatians 6:5 tells us that every man shall bear his own burden.

Proverbs 26:4 tells us NOT to answer a fool according to his folly…. and the very next verse tells us to answer a fool according to his folly… so which is it supposed to be ???? (Actually BOTH are correct DEPENDING on the CIRCUMSTANCES… an example of a BALANCE once again)

Are our good deeds supposed to be seen by men or not ? …. Matthew 5:16 tells us to let our good deeds be seen so that God may be glorified…. and Matthew 6:3 – 4 tells us to do them secretly so that we may avoid the “praise of men”…. again BOTH are correct DEPENDING on the CIRCUMSTANCES.

Are we supposed to JUDGE ???? ….. 1 Corinthians 2:15 tells us that a spiritual man judges everything (and cannot be judged by any man)… while 1 Corinthians 4:5 tells us to judge NOTHING until the Lord comes…. obviously the TRUTH must be in BOTH of these verses DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

You see what the “problem” is ? ….. the BIBLE contains the WHOLE TRUTH for EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE and situation…. past, present and future… while men are looking for “easy instructions” that they can follow BLINDLY…. INSTEAD of establishing communication with GOD (fellowship) and seeking His wishes in every circumstance…. they actually PREFER simple “rules and regulations” to make life EASY…. a simple 1, 2, 3 recipe that they can simply read out of a book.

So on the one hand…. we have “dead and formal” churches where nobody can pray at all (except by reading lines out of a book)…… and on the other hand, we have “spirit led churches”, where everything is done by “feeling” and “sensing” and the Book (Bible) only exists to “prove” their “revelations”… some of these “spirit led” churches end up being “guided” by other “seducing spirits” instead of the Holy Spirit.

So what is the BALANCE ? … how do we reconcile all this…. surely the TRUE path must be between these two extremes…. meaning BOTH “book learning” AND “Holy Spirit guidance”… unfortunately, humans are given to extremes (and the extremes are so “easy and simple” for them)…. the TRUE CALL is for MORE DEDICATION to GOD to enter into “true communion” with him and follow the narrow path that leads to life eternal…… so for most people, the easy way out is the one they take… following one extreme or the other according to their own personality or temperment.

Any church that really gets serious about TRUE HOLINESS and DEDICATION among it’s members…. will not be “popular”…. because the majority want the “false comfort” of religion…. without the true sacrifice of serving God….. they want to “feel good” without actually “being good”

Prayer for today:

Loving Heavenly Father, we want to know you personally in our lives every day…. not merely follow instructions out of a book…. please guide us daily… forgive us when we stray away and bring us back (inspite of ourselves)….. we commit our souls to you and TRUST you to perfect us (inspite of ourselves)…. THANK YOU for bringing us to “today”….. we Praise you now through Jesus Christ, OUR Lord… Amen.
